چکیده
We present numerical analyses of two-dimensional electrohydrodynamic (EHD) flows a dielectric liquid between wire electrode and two plate electrodes with Poiseuille flow, using direct simulation global stability analysis. Both conduction injection mechanisms for charge generation are considered. In this work we focused on the intensity cross-flow studied EHD without cross-flow, weak strong cross-flow. (1) case investigated its nonlinear flow structures linear dynamics. found that in regime is steady, whereas oscillatory, which can be explained by (2) The closely related to phenomena an electrostatic precipitator (ESP). Our indicate increasing or electric Reynolds number leads less stable flow. Based these results, infer one should adopt relatively low voltage wire-plate avoid instability, may hold practical implications ESP. (3) examined study effect wake By comparing conventional cylindrical regimes, brings forward vortex shedding flows. Besides, reduces drag coefficient when weak, but increases it strong.

Dynamic angular segregation of vesicles in electrohydrodynamic flows.
We investigate a new type of behavior whereby small vesicles orbiting around a larger vesicle in a toroidal electrohydrodynamic flow undergo dynamic angular segregation. Application of a low frequency (approximately 50 Hz) electric field induces aggregation of adjacent unilamellar vesicles near the electrode, in a manner similar to that observed with rigid colloidal particles. For polydisperse ...
متن کاملTheory of rotating electrohydrodynamic flows in a liquid film.
The mathematical model of rotating electrohydrodynamic flows in a thin suspended liquid film is proposed and studied. The flows are driven by the given difference of potentials in one direction and constant external electric field E(out) in another direction in the plane of a film. To derive the model, we employ the spatial averaging over the normal coordinate to a film that leads to the averag...

We present the results of a numerical investigation of the Ericksen-Leslie equations for the problem of electrohydrodynamic convection in a nematic liquid crystal. The combination of a finite element approach and numerical bifurcation techniques allows us to provide details of the basic flow and include the physically relevant effect of nonslip side walls. We are also able to include material p...
متن کاملNumerical Simulation of Conjugated Heat Transfer Characteristics of Laminar Air Flows in Parallel-Plate Dimpled Channels
This paper presents a numerical study on surface heat transfer characteristics of laminar air flows in parallel-plate dimpled channels. The two-dimensional numerical model is provided by commercial code FLUENT and the results are obtained for channels with symmetrically opposing hemi-cylindrical cavities onto both walls for Reynolds number ranging from 1000 to 2500. The influence of variations ...
متن کاملMicrofluidic blood plasma separation via bulk electrohydrodynamic flows.
An effective mechanism for rapid and efficient microfluidic particle trapping and concentration is proposed without requiring any mechanically moving parts. When a voltage beyond the threshold atmospheric ionization value is applied on a sharp electrode tip mounted at an angle above a microfluidic liquid chamber, the bulk electrohydrodynamic air thrust that is generated results in interfacial s...
